Dying to Read ... another book review

Image
Dying to Read by  Lorena McCourtney   All she wanted was a paycheck. What she got was a murder. Cate Kinkaid's life is . . . well, frankly it's floundering. Her social life, her career, her haircut--they're all a mess. Unemployed, she jumps at the chance to work for her PI uncle, even though she has no experience and no instincts. After all, she is just dabbling in the world of private investigating until she can find a "real" job. All she has to do for her first assignment is determine that a particular woman lives at a particular address. Simple, right? But when she reaches the dark Victorian house, she runs into an hungry horde of gray-haired mystery readers and a dead body. This routine PI job is turning out to be anything but simple. Is Cate in over her head? This is not your regular mystery novel.   This is a great and funny book.  It kinda reminds me of those quacky mystery movies that are more of a comedy than a serious, thriller. Cate finds herself in so

Healthy Tuesday Blog: Remedies for that Ear Ache

Image
Ear Aches are painful.  I mentioned in  last weeks  blog, that I have been suffering from ear aches due to allergies. I have found something that has helped my ear aches.   Thieves Essential Oils Years ago I was introduced to essential oils, but over the years I had forgotten about them.    When I could not get over my never ending ear ache, I found my essential oil, applied it and was relieved when it worked! Thieves essential oil has   antiviral, antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-infectious  properties.  " Thieves was created from research of a group of 15th-century thieves, the ’4 thieves’, who rubbed oils on themselves to avoid contracting the deadly plague while they robbed the bodies of the dead and dying. When apprehended, these thieves disclosed the formula of herbs, spices, and oils they used to protect themselves in exchange for more lenient punishment. It is the story of these 4 thieves which brought forth the popular essential oil blend called Thieves."  source info

Raising Financially Confident Kids

Image
Money... We all must have it to survive.  Our children see us hand over our dept card, credit card or even writing a check... they know what means. We are spending money! If your like me, your child has asked for something to only be told by you.. "Sorry, but we don't have the money for that right now.." You hear this reply.. "All you have to do is use your card." How do you teach your young one's about the importance of money? Many children see their  parent's spending habits... and they follow with that example.  If mom and dad are in dept and struggle to make ends meet... most likely son and daughter will  be the same.... why .... its what they saw.. the examples they had.  One of the most important lessons you can teach your kids is how to handle their money. Unfortunately, for most of us, giving our kids a financial education is an afterthought. Where do you start? And what if you don't feel financially confident yourself?- Raising Financially c

Lethal Legacy Book review

Image
Irene Hannon has become one of my favorite authors.  Her books never disappoint me.  Lethal Legacy is the 3rd in the Guardians of Justice series.   Kelly Warren believes that her dad was murdered and did not commit suicide like the police ruled it.  He suspicion  rise again when she receives a gift from her dad with a hand written note in it.    Detective Cole Taylor believes the original police report until things begin happening which makes him think some thing is up.  Someone has tried to kill Kelly... is it a coincidence?  Or does it have to do with her dad's death? This is a great story... filled with action packed adventure... If you are a mystery lover.. you'll like Lethal Legacy.

Let's talk Honey!

Image
I am an allergy suffer.  Every Spring, Summer, Fall... every time the weather changes... I have to deal with a runny nose, sore throat... and most recently... an ear ache.  I have taken so many over the counter meds for my allergies that I now know what brand affects me ... so I can stay away from them. When we recently moved, I was suffering more than the usual. I was told time and time again to try locally farmed honey.  I was told that it would help relieve my allergy symptoms.  I had never heard of it before, but hey.. what's it going to hurt. I went to a local gas/ grocery store and pick up some honey farmed right there in town.  Let me tell you, I am not (or was not) a fan of honey.  I remember when I was a child my mother giving my honey and lemon juice to drink when I had a cold... I hated the stuff! LOL...   I began taking one tablespoon in the morning and one in the evening.  This locally grown honey is very sweet, and very taste... so I had no problems getting it down.
